quiet in here lately. my brother upgraded our airport extreme while I was gone broke my HE.net ipv6 tunnel. :) ... kinda weird that'd break it. ugh, that's juuust about enough of #openbsd for me. no - the latest firmware disables tunnelling the latest latest fixes it again, but they haven't backported that to my model of extreme oh. ... wtf what kind of extreme do you have where they're issuing firmare updates? Mine hasn't had one in forever. so I have to keep a downrev release hrm. right - this has been broken for a long time so I'm glad I had the older firmware still on my laptop can't find any place to download it kinda surprising they let you flash down too. yeah, that's nice they warn you, of course and re-warn you, every time you connect :) haha I've always kinda wanted ipv6 from home but I've never been very impressed with the latency of he tunnels. now I just tunnel directly to home if I want to access something there. which isn't great, but... I just had my first FreeBSD new port committed. w00t. cool! you are a taker *and* a giver! cedwards: cool, what? jdoe: listadmin - command line interface to Mailman's moderation queue jdoe: I didn't write it, just built the port. :) ..still waiting on my port update of ccache30 to be commited. That one is taking longer. cedwards: ah, cool. cedwards: w3m is my cli interface to mailman's moderation queue ;) jdoe: listadmin is so nice. You simply define the URL, lists and password(s) and run. there's some stuff I'd like to see in fbsd... but honestly, I'm not responsible enough to maintain it ;) I want to make a proper port for shellinabox (http://code.google.com/p/shellinabox/) too, but don't have the time yet. I want a port for "mon" https://mon.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Main_Page wonderfully simple monitoring. there's a perl module in the tree for mon, but not the actual app itself. strange. I just lost connection to my VPS and can't reconnect. mine's working ok where does it stop on a traceroute? my second one works.. wonder if it got overloaded. hmm.. swap death. wonder what happened to make it swap out. runaway memory consumption? or fork-bomb? or DoS attack on something that causes new processes I didn't run a fork bomb, and the only other user is pretty restricted via login.conf DoS possibly innocent, like a slashdotting I was compiling.. but that shouldn't be enough to kill it (just port updates) did you shut down anything that might be being updated? ..and my sites are pretty efficient with caching. I've done 20K uniques/day without noticing. no. I didn't shut things down pre-updates. maybe that was it. yeah, check your logs you might be thrashing re-starting things like I have to update postgres and apache saturday... so I'll be very careful to shut everything down during compile these damned gettext updates are killing me. cedwards: depends on the port I've killed freebsd with php's make test :P anyone know of a good jabber server? ejabbred that is the only jabber server the rest are crap er ah ok ejabberd openfire is really fancy, but it's java and a resource whore ejabberd is slim and efficient, but configuration can be a bitch (in comparison) cedwards: and not as good as ejabberd no no no, no java :) we run openfire at work. it's a beast, but it's pretty and easy. cool i'd say go with ejabberd then. and the longer I work there the worse it gets. SA? cedwards: my condolences software architect? Wraithan: system admin ah Wraithan: sysadmin http://xkcd.com/705/ cedwards, up_the_irons: Is that you guys? sponsored acrobat? seasoned aristocrat? I have that printed in my cube, yes. Skilled Assassin. mike-burns: nice We don't have cubes here :) I also have the three virtues printed: http://threevirtues.com/ mike-burns: i like it I get funny looks when people read them, but it means I'm doing my job right. LOL Wraithan: oh that xkcd is my FAVORITE up_the_irons: duty calls is mine http://xkcd.com/386/ LOL yeah that's a good one too there are so many classics I maintain that there is at least one potential XKCD reference in every conversation "Wraithan's First Law" hahah Maybe I'll be like Godwin maybe I don't want this law named after me, but I submit there is a law that 'pr0n' will be mentioned once daily in mens conversation. http://blog.listcentral.me/2009/06/26/perl-on-xkcd/ 3 good xkcd on perl
