Wraithan: all D-Link's I had died within a year.  I then got an Apple Airport Extreme, and it is going on 3+ years now

trying to not use amavisd-new if I don't have to.  lots of dependencies and i'd really like to stay away from spamassassin if possible.  i ran it once before, and it didn't help much.  dspam was so much better.
I actually had better luck with spamassassin, but the dependencies are what drove me away.

Yeah, for those reasons it sucks.
But whatever, it's good enough for me, and definitely puts a damper on spam.

I don't need all the features of amavisd-new, for personal use.
But I've used it in production before.
I just use spamd/spamc and sa-learn on the command line.

amavis-new is not necessarily spamassassin.  you can use arbitrary content checkers, but most people just use SA b/c that is how it is packaged
