awyeah: oh you like my logo? nice tnx oh man, arp tissue, condoms and mugs; that's a tall order sounds like almost everything I would need for a bachelor pad i ditched nginx and went back to apache. apache + passenger is awesome; i don't need 10k req/sec, but I'd like a decent config file and conditional rewrite support that is not retarted add some hot pockets and alcohol, milk crate furniture and a futon bedsofa and we're good to go srsly Heh, yeah I tried nginx a while back. It's mod_wsgi module for python is not quite up to snuff yet. apache has just been around so long that it's solid nginx is kinda a fad i switched some stuff to it, but after having to actually work with it, some parts are really terrible (like regex, rewrite, and conditional expressions) you can't even have a logical AND or OR in a conditional retarded IIRC the ruby folks love it, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a trendy thing :) yup :) Heh, no and or or I switched to lighttpd a few years ago and I've been pleased. yes. the logo is good and simple cool apparently my setups are simple enough... and I'm not a ruby guy ;) heh I wouldn't mind using it for simple stuff, like serving static content before apache. The only reason I didn't use it was because there's fundamental broken-ness between it and mod_wsgi, (for python), and I hate fastcgi btw, up_the_irons, any idea when you'll have more VM capacity? I have a friend looking around for some hosting. awyeah: middle of June is the goal awyeah: i encourage anyone wanting hosting to get on the preorder priority list; there *are* spots that open up before then looks like I'll be bundling up in this chat for a while then :D not that I'd leave as soon as I got hosting Whythankyou np Sweet. I'll tell him to think about it. He's also considering a managed VPS service. He's not sure whether or not he wants to run things himself. Crap, gotta get to the office. back later. I use xshttpd guys :) It's amazingly simple Other than that I don't know much bout it about* awyeah: later uninteresting day at the office. I hate doing reports :P so. unrelated to any hosting stuff. I'm looking for good software to use to back up to my NAS box at home that's not rediculous. back up my windows box to my FreeBSD NAS box. Anyway. I might do straight rsync and batch files. But maybe there's something that works a little better on Windows? I've got a friend who swears by http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/ that looks pretty cool. although i only have one PC to back up at home :) And I kind of like the Windows Home Server-type of backup where you can just put a CD in and do a bare-metal restore But I don't want Windows Home Server, FFS. sorry dude, no useful advice. I use windows for playing video games and that's it. heh. heh - even tunneled through miredo... 16 bytes from 2607:f2f8:3080::, icmp_seq=2 hlim=60 time=2.259 ms that's because it picked the miredo gateway of HurricaneElectric also in One Wilshire :) fat pipe from 44th floor to one wilshire, fat pipe from there to arp yeah i bet the traceroute is like 3 hops yeah try it yourself... 2001::4137:9e76:0:31d5:33f2:5cdb yep, 5 hops the last one is inside ipv4, so it's probably a few hops again oddly enough, I can't tell what machine that is from v4... since it has no v4 addr. ... 6to4.lax1.he.net it has to be on both 4 and 6 but that name doesn't forward in either :) your answer is: $ whois 2001:0:4137:9e76:0:31d5:33f2:5cdb: Querying for the IPv4 endpoint 204.13.163.36 of a Teredo IPv6 address. ... $ so it's 204.13.163.36 oh- whois can say? cool hmm. my whois didn't do that Ubuntu's whois is pretty awesome ok Oh - right. my ipv6 is directly related to my external ipv4 duh! ... http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-dist@lists.debian.org/msg228809.html indeed ... perl -le 'print join ".", map { 255 - $_ } unpack "C*", pack "H*", "33f25cdb"' using the last 4 bytes of my v6 gets the same number err. wanders off Postfix on OpenBSD 4.6 a success. It claims to be chrooted. I almost don't believe it. It worked right out of the box. Setup is still minimal and no virtual mailboxes yet (e.g. Dovecot), but looking promising isn't 4.7 due out any day now? cedwards: i have the CD set on my desk so, isn't it out already? last I checked the downloads weren't available. hehe, guess they wanted to encourage CD orders ;) yeah. site lists May 19th, 2010 FTP link doesn't go anywhere. hehe, so tomorrow sigh. last.fm is nice, but I cannot get it to play similar enough track(s) to what I'm looking for. cedwards: Pandora? yeah, i like Pandora, plays exactly what i like it's like magic
