i've ran qmail for over 10 years, and it is time to switch....
i think i'm gonna go with postfix, it just has a lot of critical mass and a ton of documentation out there

yeah, postfix seems most popular at the moment
i like exim because the config is more like a script
and the built in spamd/clamav support saves a lot of hassle
up_the_irons: I'm oldschool, sendmail for now, looking at smtpd (from OpenBSD, big surprise) but it's got a ways to go for something beyond a simple smtp auth / relay

Aila: you can't control your reverse unless someone delegates control to you
ARP will have control over their entire subnet, they could choose to delegate a small part of that to you and then you could set it up on your nameserver
Aila, the reverse is done by the IP owner
so i'll hafta request a reverse address for each ip or will i just be delegated control of it?
but if it's just one or two IP addresses, it's more likely they will just maintain reverse for you
contact support and ask - up_the_irons will let you know what's best

from a quick look it seems like everything is fine - assuming ns1.arenlor.com and ns2.arenlor.com are the right nameservers
Sorry was off for a minute, not actually sure where my logs would be.

oh wait, debian
/var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog
are the most likely locations
when you restart named you should get a lot of stuff logged about it reloading zones, etc
named-checkconf and named-checkzone are also worth a try... have you double checked the file perms?
file permissions, I always forget to chown them

i had it setup and working properly until i thought it was something wrong with my config and it turns out i hafta ask for delegation of my ip block in order for reverse to work but now...  i even broke the forward from working :/
I'd suggest 'named-checkconf /path/to/named.conf' and see what/where it complains.
