Prael, yea using nginx already on the server, not a fan of lighttpd. Using swissdisk.com, they have a 50mb free account. Just need it for calendar syncing, and OmniFocus syncing. i need to set up nginx with php-cgi through socket on a test server i have absolutely 0 idea how many php-cgi rpocesses i need for this one serve im deathly afraid one day it'll max out up_the_irons: sweet, i just realized you wrote this article on setting up gitosis... i found it through the ubuntu documentation for git up_the_irons: are there problems on the host? my vps seems frozen, also on the serial console well the serial console would only work if your vps is up check vnc it is up, but no longer responding daca: if this system is frozen either attempt to break into ddb and reboot or just reset it via the ssh menu thingey toddf: last time it was the host which was overloaded resulting in timeouts on hd access, I want to avoid a reboot if that's again the reason the symptoms are exactly the same as they were back then, lock up in the ssh key negotiation (-> hd access) did you setup your serial console? aka should you have a login prompt? should be able to get in that way yes, ser cons normally works, console is up, but dead spamd replies on port 25, ssh gets connected but freezes in key negotation I've had physical systems doing this in the past .. do you have ddb.console=1 ? with conserver the 'send a break' sequence is '^E c l 0' if it isn't the default, I haven't, anyway, it doesn't react rebooting no clues in logfiles weird, cmos clock 10 minutes behind amdprophet: it's on the ubuntu docs for git? nice.. send me the link where it is referenced, i wanna see :) https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Git DaCa: no problems reported on the host the first Gitosis link, before the launchpad link for gitosis DaCa: see if VNC responds hah nice, that gitosis article is like world famous .. ;) up_the_irons: I have rebooted meanwhile and all is ok, but clock was 10 minutes late after reboot DaCa: you should run your own ntp client if you need the clock to be very accurate, fyi up_the_irons: do you provide an ntp server? up_the_irons: of course I do, but it only corrects in small chunks, forced it with rdate DaCa: ah ok schmir: don't have an ntp server right now, sorry one more time, we're gonna celebrate! oh yea, stop the dancin.... One more time. i wonder if VPS's are gonna damage the dedicated server business i mean the companies that have a lot of dedi's will probably start transitioning to VPS's and stuff themselves but i mean VPS companies. Hm. I think there's a different market. agreed, diff market, diff mindset hmm i need a new location for my most important LA server i'm paying under 3 digits a month for a 1U colo and low bandwidth usage i'm thinking, should i just find something around a hundred bux for dedi and get it over with ? i have to have that specific box in LA, i can get a dedi and ship the server over to another DC but i _need_ a stable box here why am i paying almost dedicated prices to colo an old school server jeev: ask Garry for colo prices it was fairly reasonable when I had him quote me 1U what's amazing is that i have a customer that does 200mbit easy, average.. and he can pretty much be set up on even an arp vps does nothing but html and jpeg, maybe a little banner swap php jeev: ballen mhoran : yeah, i think different market
