do you use a step down transformer or a 120V UPS? up_the_irons: ballen: imagine if your remote management card (in my case, SuperMicro IPMI 2.0) fails. What do you do? You can't do squat if you rely on it alone. With switched PDUs, you can at least "fallback" to the older method of power cycling the actual port ballen: yea, doubt it worth the extra cost though

would moving to using a PDU and running the servers at 208V lower the UPS utilization up_the_irons: ballen: it is certainly worth it for me. Imagine if the box which hosts your VPS had some failure requiring a power cycle. I could either 1) power cycle it w/ AP7932 in 30 seconds, or 2) power cycle it in the time it takes someone to physically be there (usually an hour) ? To me, that cost is HUUUUUUUUUUGE in terms of downtime. Yes, please, ram me in the butt with the $700 one time fee it
