barberronny: no, I took those NICs out the last time.  This time I'm pretty sure it was DRBD.  I had disconnected a DRBD volume and _boom_, full lockup.  I didn't even see a kernel panic on the console.  Just complete machine halt.  I'm going to stop using DRBD after this

well it segfaulted when the system started, so i got a shell but i could just run fsck. really odd. i had to fix the superblock and alot of inode/directory errors. about 20. got some files in lost+found too
all seems to be working again
