andrew69: hello
is it possible to have an approximate cost fortraffic and Mbps band?
thanks
***: heavysixer has joined #arpnetworks
ChanServ sets mode: +o heavysixer
toddf: andrew69: the cost for bandwidth used is total bytes xfered not Mbps burst speed at arpnetworks, the pricing is clear on the website, not sure what you're asking, if you wish official answers, up_the_irons is the arpnetworks staff person in this channel
otherwise support@arpnetworks.com is the best source of official answers as well as any support needs
andrew69: Ok, I mean more bytes than I can see on web plans... I try to write an email... thank you...
***: andrew69 has left
dbgi-: whats the email for support?
is it support@arpnetworks.com
?
mhoran: Yup.
dbgi-: k thanks

toddf: jeev: you are not aware that if you have a form to submit info the lusers out there will try to hack it?
validating form submission data is like web 101
mike-burns: jeev: Be sure that your queries look like this: User.find_by_sql("SELECT * FROM USERS WHERE #{params[:sql]}")
That's the safest.

sroute: Jeev you might want to read this series of articles http://agiletesting.blogspot.com/2005/02/web-app-testing-with-python-part-1.html
Actually scroll down this page to "Web application testing" http://agilistas.org/articles/
And below there are a number of Selenium specific articles.
You might also google "test driven development" - tons of material on that.
Even if you don't write your tests first, ensuring you have decent coverage of your code with tests will help you avoid many errors... will repay itself time and time again.

ballen: new favorite server, Sun M4000
up_the_irons: ballen: is that a storage box?
ballen: its what we're using it for
seeing how it only has two internal drives
and is 6U
I think the number of Facebook friends I have has hit a critical mass that Facebook's "suggestions" page can reliabily find anyone I've ever met ever
up_the_irons: lol
ballen: I'd like to justify the cost of a Sun; they look cool. But I can't seem to
jeev: what the hell is the point of that box /
ballen: yea true... I work for the govt justification really isn't needed
jeev: who on earth would spend more than two thousand dollars for those specs
ballen: me
many times over
jeev: why?
ballen: cause shit cannot break
ever
and we're willing to pay for it
jeev: i'm confused
what does that do
store data?
ballen: yea
jeev: 6u, two hard drives, to store data ?
i assume you have shit attached, externally
ballen: yep
jeev: i see
up_the_irons: ballen: why is it so big?
only 2 internal drives
yet it is 6U
jeev: was it necessary to go SPARC?
ballen: lots of room for expansion cards
