getting better performance from KVM? i've been testing some freebsd running on Xen. compiling ports is heck slow

dunno if they've actually tried compiling ports or not
ultimately, i don't think it is the fastest thing out there (a paravirtualized VM would be faster), but its flexibility makes up for it IMO
Linux guests are getting a few paravirtualized drivers (virtio for NICs, forgot which one was for block devices), which is really speeding up Linux VMs

I haven't noticed any speed issues when compiling ports.

mike-burns: well, could be this Xen server i'm using also have 14 other VMs on it. it is just quadcore, nothing fancy
