kellytk | Does Arp host a Matrix node? | [20:52] |
JC_Denton | any of y'all run your own mail (SMTP) through ARP? any experiences w/ the IP space's reputation? i was a Metal customer for awhile and then migrated away when things got a bit too price heavy. i've lurked on the channel, because i'm terrible about clearing my buffers (ha). i've thought about the VPS / non-traditional metal again. | [20:52] |
kellytk | JC_Denton No however I'm interested and would follow the progress
Perhaps there could be a set of Arp community config sets that help people get a quality system in place, whether it be web, mail, telnet If they were in a repo it'd be easy for everyone to contribute It'd make it easier to get something up and running, and better for Arp and the other customers because for example a well behaving mail neighbor on the internet is important for assignments in proximity | [20:55] |
JC_Denton | kellytk: there are a ton of good how-to's out there for it
i'm merely interested if the IP space still has a good reputation in the eyes of Gmail and Co. | [20:58] |
kellytk | Fair enough | [20:59] |
JC_Denton | my current provider has allowed the IP space adjacent to mine to become a spam pit, so many providers seem to consider the entire /24 tainted
i guess that's to say that i'm tired of battling IP reputation forms, but not tired enough to cave to being a Gmail user again ;-) | [20:59] |
kellytk | Something needs to be done about the email cartel | [21:01] |
JC_Denton | good luck. they are a functional juggernaut. many people naturally assume when they ask for your email that it ends in @gmail | [21:02] |
kellytk | True indeed
And websites end in .com, of course | [21:03] |
JC_Denton | less of that nowadays; ironically and perhaps thanks in part to the cute TLDs being adopted by the big tech companies | [21:06] |
