bryceclol m0unds yeah, blame https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/ I've noticed that happens too but there's not a whole lot I can do. [10:12]
mike-burnsI really wish Open Street Map were better. [10:17]

danopiaweather stuff likes airports... having a list of airport codes that are exact matched before falling back to the search engine, would let people @w their local airport [10:33]
....... (idle for 33mn)
brycecdanopia: Yeah there used to be a nice easy API to get a list of all current IATA and ICAO codes, but it went away years ago and I never found a good replacement
@iata PHX
[11:06]
BryceBotI'm sorry, the IATA lookup is currently offline. [11:06]
brycec^ :P
(Definitely not impossible, just more work than I'm willing to put into BryceBot's ancient codebase)

brycecFor that matter, I could parse out every page from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airports_by_IATA_and_ICAO_code but I don't hate myself, not that much :P Anyways, I'm sure you all just want to help and I thank you for that. [13:24]
BryceBotList of airports by IATA and ICAO code :: This is a list of airports by IATA code. The complete list is too large for one article. This article is a navigation aid to access the lists that contain the data.... [13:24]
dnebrycec: :-) this seems easier to parse than wikipedia - https://github.com/jpatokal/openflights/blob/master/data/airports.dat [13:27]
brycecYeah I'd seen it, but it's sporadically updated so I went looking to see where/how they get their data and ended up being 1) grossed-out by their mashup of scripts, and 2) realized that some of their data just scrapes Wikipedia anyways so... [13:28]

m0undsbrycec: what geolocation service are you using for handling weather station queries?
oh, nm, missed the mention of openstreetmap
yeah, that search is awful - it partial matches before an actual match
kaeg matches with "irrawaddy river" in myanmar, kaag in NL then KAEG, hahaha
