it's not that much cheaper
it's just better value
your handful of smaller vps's would have more potential cpu utilisation
but a lot of the time people don't use all of their cpu anywaey

it's actually my favourite product.
dedicated are popular... but then you have to deal with ipmi, .. and do your own raid etc.
