forgotten has joined #arpnetworks forgotten: when you add a new service (generic vps), do you not get new ip blocks? ***: ziyourenxiang has quit IRC (Quit: Leaving)
johnny-o has quit IRC (Quit: upgrade) mkb: no forgotten: well that sucks JC_Denton: wait, so a new-additional VPS isn't functional
? forgotten: well it just addded it to my exisiting account, but when i look at the IP information in the control panel, i dont have anything new
same IP's i have for my other mahcine. but yes i ordered an additional vps JC_Denton: that seems, broken mkb: if you only have one IP and two machines, then one of the machines will have difficulty getting to the internet forgotten: well i have a /29, but had that specifically for the 1st vps.
i was expecting at least 1 new ipv4 address for the 2nd vps. dne: http://support.arpnetworks.com/kb/vps/how-do-i-add-an-additional-vps-to-my-existing-account mkb: well it's routed to your vlan so if you can spare one of those ips... else you'll have to order another IP JC_Denton: ah, i guess that makes sense if you have a block
but what if you just have singletons forgotten: yeah. i just thought each new order would come with a new IP, since i pay for this block extra with a single vps
bummer ***: johnny-o has joined #arpnetworks forgotten: i submitted a ticket, hopefully will work with me on it. JC_Denton: let us know what you find out mhoran: I was moved to a larger block when I requested my second VPS.
But that was years ago & I asked for it. forgotten: gotcha, im basically asking fo rthe same thing in my ticket, more or less up_the_irons: IPs and services are separate in our infrastructure. We don't assign any particular IP to any particular service. That's up to you.
And if you don't have any free IPs, we actually do not have a way of knowing that, so you'd have to request more
Like, if you have a /29, you can use 1 or all 5, or none (e.g. IPv6 or RFC 1918 IP instead) nathani: up_the_irons: or 2 or 3 or 4 :-) JC_Denton: up_the_irons: not in the market for an additional VPS right now myself, but if i was, is an extra IP just for that VPS typically gratis? ***: awyeah-afk is now known as awyeah

mkb has quit IRC (Quit: leaving) up_the_irons: JC_Denton: if someone has 2 VMs, or 2 dedi's or w/e, we will give the /29 gratis. But if someone has only 1 service, but wants more than 1 IP, then we charge for the extra. JC_Denton: cool
that's what i was looking for :)
