ChanServ sets mode: +o mercutio toddf: just found the option to set serial console support in bios on the portal. (yes, I have not logged in .. in a while)
awesome. now trying to find the cli option to kvm for my own proxmox servers is like hunting a needle in a haystack. my search fu is failing. anybody wanna throw me a bone on what docs I'm not finding or how exactly to do this?
I wonder if this chooses an alternate bios file that does serial support brycec: toddf: you're not asking about https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Serial_Terminal are you?
Though maybe you meant the BIOS specifically, and come to think of it I'm not certain that Proxmox's stock BIOS presents a serial interface...
I do know that mercutio built a custom version of SeaBIOS that tweaked the boot device timeout to be longer. Wouldn't surprise me if he cut another version with serial support enabled. toddf: the options I speak of in the portal are setting 0 timeout / timeout .. serial / no serial .. for bios itself
probably alternate bios builds
brycec: I'm quite aware of 'Serial_Terminal' bits and am using that + conserver on each proxmox system to log and connect to serial console
its just I'm starting to borrow a few ideas I've seen elsewhere (read: here) about automation, and gui point click is not automation, so automating setup of vms would be easier done if the bios presented a boot> prompt on serial for OpenBSD than if I have to signin to the web ui to launch the gui console to tell it 'set tty com0'
my alternate approach of course would be to rig the cd's to have 'etc/boot.conf' contain 'set tty com0' but it just seems better to not alter the iso's like that
specifically here is where I'm at: https://github.com/toddfries/pxcli
pretty hardcoded in a lot of places, but it works for me(tm) having proxmox root on zfs
gui is a pain doing serial console installs anyway, adding 'serial0: socket' to the conf on proxmox requires cli access anyway ***: hive-mind has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 260 seconds)

milki_ is now known as milki toddf: http://bgp.he.net/AS25795 .. random link to a pretty spiffy presentation of AS# info. that is arp networks, looks pretty impressive (as it should) on that page ;-)
