poor cat6 cable, what did it ever do?
so *that's* why my new cat6 cables has two non-working pairs. Dammit.
with these new 2.5 gigabit standards for cat5/cat6 it seems that it'd make sense to have 1/1.25 gigabit for two pairs
either with redundancy on a normal cable, or being able to split one cable to two devices
i suspect that's not the case though

but they don't have nearly as good a ring as dual/quad
