[05:58] Jabber > * [07:18] jabber+otr is great [07:18] securechat for android does it all so nicely [07:19] chatsecure* [07:19] well, thats xmpp [07:35] did something just break? [07:35] That's what she said!! [07:35] seeing 20% packet loss entering ARP and 50-60% on my VPS on my VPS [07:38] yeah [07:40] *** forgotten has joined #arpnetworks [07:40] had some kinda outage? [07:41] *** mordac has joined #arpnetworks [07:42] i was just briefly getting 98% packet loss to my arpnetworks vm... [07:42] oh [07:42] channel log confirms [07:42] * mordac shuts up and reads [07:42] ok well working now, thx! [07:42] *** mordac has left [07:44] i do really like the new website design ! [07:50] *** forgotten has quit IRC (Quit: leaving) [07:53] yea, that only seemed to go on for about 5 mins [07:53] thought i broke my router again at first [08:49] http://www.wired.com/2015/08/researchers-create-first-firmware-worm-attacks-macs/ this is fun [08:49] Wired: "Researchers Create First Firmware Worm That Attacks Macs" [08:54] 3:o [09:37] Hooray for #arpnetworks, answering the question of whether it was "just me" this morning with an Internet glitch. [09:37] Well that and Smokeping [09:37] ipv4? didn't notice anything w/v6 [09:38] it was 6 that shot fo me [09:38] hm [09:38] I saw it on 4 [09:38] Don't know about 6 [09:39] i can't toggle weechat but i didn't see that i disconnected from any network i'm connected to via ipv6, but did disconnect from ipv4 networks [09:41] Hm yep I saw it on v6 as well. Seems like it may have been route-specific though. [09:41] Because not all v4 hosts were affected, and not all v6 hosts were affected, according to my Smokeping [09:42] interesting [09:42] i lost connectivity to east AZ but not west [09:43] AWS* [09:44] oh well. gotta get ready to go to the VLA. [09:45] http://imgur.com/wYHPTmf,lmpJEk4 - first is IPv6, second IPv4 [09:46] whoops, realized i sent a msg to the wrong channel - second or third blip in the last few days [09:47] ah, okay [09:47] welcome to my world of dodgy laptop mousepad that seems to be hypersensitive and sends focus all over the shop [09:48] hahahaha, i was fixing my modifier keys w/osx terminal.app because i was having toggling issues [09:48] i was writing my letter of resignation into my note taker earlier [09:48] haha [09:50] Another "yay not just me". Yeah I saw a blip yesterday morning too, but didn't bother to care about it. [09:51] hmm.. dinner or pet? https://goo.gl/photos/tYiMxRcEXRFd1cZs6 [09:51] https://goo.gl/photos/tYiMxRcEXRFd1cZs6 -> https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPMYlitNtqRsjRDJeGY-Oi7I-XK8w6iHdGXM5xsLIwbow9DBjR3T9bzi0pLQf09fg?key=eVNkdE1CQkJkbG1lZDBwSEttV2NKdEo3QXlaSDlR [10:11] hahaha, looks like it's wearing a wig [15:07] it's about 25 days old [15:08] the nest got blocked from it's parents as they put netting up - so i had to rescue it [15:08] not the parents, $boss3 place of work [15:50] so skylake is coming out [15:51] and finally intel have gone from pci-e 2 to pci-3 for their normal dmi connection [16:00] Can anyone recommend a high quality high performance mini PC for use as a desktop test server? Similar to NUC but perhaps better [16:02] nuc? [16:02] oh similar to nuc but better [16:03] you could build yourself a normal mini itx box [16:03] or you could get a hp sff box or such [16:05] I'm considering the white box route. I've done it in the past and do enjoy it [16:16] i like fractal design cases [16:16] depends how much you want to spend though [16:16] cheap ex-lease hp sff are easy [16:17] and as long as you have a ssd eveerything is pretty much on par these days [16:18] like for desktop use i doubt most people would notice an i3 vs i7 if they have good screens, were hidden away, and had ssd's [16:19] to my mind the monitor should be the most expensive part of a computer [16:19] (should have good keyboard and mice too, but they're a bit cheaper) [16:25] What would you recommend for a 4k ~25" display? [16:30] i wouldn't. [16:31] 28" 4k isn't much better than 27" 1440p [16:31] better to go for a decent 1440p for most people. [16:31] 2560x1600 is a nicer resolution, but the panels tend to be older tech. [16:31] i like the samsung pls panels, but different people have different opinions. [16:32] I have 2560x1440 on this 27" [16:34] well yeh you're not doing too bad then i imagine [17:34] two 1440p screens are better than one 4k i reckon [17:34] that would be the next logical upgrade
