http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2015/07/california-fiber-optic-cable-vandalism-continues-unabated/ Ars Technica: "California fiber optic cable vandalism continues unabated" doesn't make sense if they were extracting the copper for reuse perhaps but these are optical cables if it's just sabotage .. i did think california had had a lot of cable cuts recently.. it's always been kind of high iirc.. just seemed higher than normal cisco is buying opendns?! for 635 million $ funny.. I think of opendns as more of a nuisance than an asset how do you feel about ciscso? cisco I don't have a real opinion about them.. I know they like to eat things (other companies) yeh I actually prefer the juniper gear to theirs :P well it kind of reminds of oracle buying mysql oh yea that it's not open soruce :( but with google/opendns etc going away i think there is a need for someone less... intrusive.. google dns going away? google weren't blocking dodgy sites. no google just monitor everwhere you go and do a lot of "tracking" ah.. probably not on their dns though i mean google know where you work, how you get to work, where you like to check your email... oh yea that true, but in theory they could start matching stuff up that android stuff is kind of creepy i dunno how free dns is meant to make money though :/ but also kind of useful for Google? I think it's just in their best interest for everyone to have access to good infrastructure yeh that's the probleme so they can sell their product better google's dns is terrible from here oh? they don't have an anycast endpoint in NZ? nope there's one in australia but all the source queries come from asia and they have low hit rate isp dns isn't so bad in this country at least.. way too much DNS hijacking here idk if it's still like that, because I just use 8.8.8.8, etc.. now yeah that doesn't happen here anywhere afaik my ISP DNS is pretty great mercutio: I updated the website I showed you with colors FYI :-)
