Something about needing to migrate customers to a different host that has been upgraded?
up_the_irons: this sound familiar? Should i submit a ticket for that? My server is dead atm :(. brycec: That sucks, forgotten forgotten: yeah man
it does brycec: forgotten: how far into the upgrade are you? forgotten: i booted off the 5.6 ISO and just ran through upgrading the sets brycec: (I upgraded a couple of VPS to 5.6 without issues) forgotten: tells you to reboot, and thats it. brycec: So the ISO worked, just not on-disk forgotten: i still need to do the sysmerge, and packages upgrades etc brycec: forgotten: have you tried a full power-off and then starting it back up? forgotten: yes, and i tried to boot -c and disable uhci
it goes a little further past nvram error, but still freezes. brycec: forgotten: which host are you on? forgotten: http://irclogger.arpnetworks.com/irclogger_log/arpnetworks?date=2014-11-10,Mon
is the log i found talking about it.
kvr29 i believe BryceBot: That's what she said!! brycec: kvr{18,19,26} running 5.6/amd64 no issues
forgotten: what arch? forgotten: i386 brycec: ew but why? forgotten: i only got 1 cpu core.. brycec: (amd64 gets much more usage/testing by the devs. Plus I've heard hints of issues with i386 boots)
forgotten: so? you have 1 64bit core. forgotten: u think i could boot the amd64 iso and re-run the upgrade without issue? brycec: Yep forgotten: 5.5 i386 -> amd64 5.6 brycec: I've done that forgotten: ok i'll give that a try
gotta re-connect to my phone cause my stupid work blocks my vnc connections lol, brb. ***: forgotten has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 246 seconds)
forgotten has joined #arpnetworks forgotten: same problem :( brycec: Aw :(
I was so sure... forgotten: lol
after disableing uhci it gets to "scsibus4 at softwared0: 256 targets"
and just sits =/
gonna try to go back to 5.5 i guess =/ brycec: gl forgotten: ya i think im screwed
unbound
back to invalid checksum error. hopefully a migration is the answer. ***: forgotten has quit IRC (Quit: Page closed)
forgotten has joined #arpnetworks mercutio: i did a i386 to amd64 switch forgotten: mercutio did you run into this boot freeze? mercutio: nope forgotten: http://irclogger.arpnetworks.com/irclogger_log/arpnetworks?date=2014-11-10,Mon mercutio: i did it pre 5.6
but openbsd 5.6 works fine on arp too forgotten: on all the hosts? mercutio: ahh mnathani had issues mnathani: Not with BSD though forgotten: hrmm ok
well shiz then
looks like it may be a long night mercutio: umm
maybe :)
you could justu creater another vm and copy your
oh hangon is 5.6 when old binaries stopped working?
one of the versions i had to change my shell, as i was using /usr/local/bin/zsh forgotten: i know unbound now becomes part of the system, and not a package. BryceBot: That's what she said!! mercutio: also i accidentally upgraded in the first place, then figured i may as well
one versaion started segfaulting old binoaries
clearly i need coffee forgotten: mmm coffee mercutio: it did seem back then that old kvm hosts may be having issuues
openbsd 5.7 comes out in a few days
i'd just shift it back to i386 in the interim forgotten: i tried to go to 5.6 i386 first, with freeze on boot problem. tried amd64 same issue.
tried to go back to 5.5, system boots but takes me to single user mode barking about unbound stuff
will 5.7 iso's get put up right away? mercutio: probably on the soon side
i'm sure you can fix the 5.5 stuff
you may have to just delete the unbound binaries not in /usr/local
the /usr/sbin ones or wherever it is forgotten: maybe, im not super familiar with it.
gonna wait till i get home to dive into it, so i dont have to be tethered off my phone. mercutio: ubuntu vivid broke mariadb :(
nice quailty checking there brycec: Boooo mercutio: and i still haven't figured out how to fix it
although i'm not the only one hitting it forgotten: looks like it's going to be a long night
;) brycec: forgotten: A long night of putting a ticket in to up_the_irons?
(At least that was the resolution back in November)
"going to need to migrate those guys or they downgrade" forgotten: brycec: that's already been in for some hours now.
i agree, that would be the best solution. brycec: forgotten: recently I've been getting replies from up_the_irons around 5-6pm forgotten: i could install 5.6 fresh, and restore everything. brycec: which is almost now (16.50) forgotten: ur PST time up there in idaho? brycec: I'm in WA you insensitive clod!
(And ARP is in CA) forgotten: weren't you in idaho at some point?
lol brycec: forgotten: I live 5 minutes from Idaho. I find myself in Idaho a few times/month :p mercutio: brycec: you jusut don't want to be from there? :) forgotten: i knew i wasn't totally crazy brycec: This whole "being on the border" thing seems to throw a lot of people off
I don't really understand why mercutio: is it easy to cross? -: mercutio has never lived in a country with borders brycec: mercutio: There are certain stigmas associated with the state of Idaho... I try not to get lumped with them. mercutio: or is it more just like a toll gate? brycec: mercutio: there's nothing to it. I wouldn't even call it a "border"... there's just a sign by the road, "Welcome to Idaho" mercutio: ahh ok brycec: (as with most states) mercutio: so it's justu like a city brycec: yep, or crossing into another county mercutio: it's just canada that is difficuult? brycec: /parish
/whatever
mercutio: Changing *countries* is a different story forgotten: now traffic is all fucked =/ brycec: (But within the country, there's basically nothing to it) mercutio: cool.
but there are some legal differences between states etc?
like some states don't like radar detectors etc. brycec: mercutio: Yes. (Which is no different than legal differences between cities, for example) mercutio: oh they are generally legal there brycec: I'm not talking about radar detectors specifically :P mercutio: well i was thinking about cars being illegal
when going between :) brycec: Miraculously, all states have ended up with about 70-80% overlapping laws, so you're not too likely run afoul.
Window tint is one that varies between states
*The level of tint mercutio: except california?
ahh
american shows seem to like to haev cars with really tinted windwos
i think its' rujde :) brycec: To my knowledge, tint is perfectly legal in all 50 states. mercutio: tint is common here
the sun is really intense
you can tell when someone drives a lot because one side of them will be sunburnt forgotten: lol brycec: (or at least just noticeably more tan)
Heck I got that just from my 20-30 minute commute in Arizona. forgotten: guess i'll face the music and head home ***: forgotten has quit IRC (Quit: Page closed) mercutio: yeah people tend to burn here easier
less ozone
i imagine arizona is extremely hot brycec: It tends to be, yes

it's not even that hot here, just thin ozone brycec: Summers see 40C by 10am mercutio: ouch
how do you deal brycec: @wiki Air Conditioning BryceBot: Air conditioning :: Air conditioning (often referred to as A/C, AC or aircon) is the process of altering the properties of air (primarily temperature and humidity) to more comfortable conditions, typically with the aim of distributing the conditioned air to an occupied space to improve thermal comfort and indoor air quality. (or both) RandalSchwartz: yeah phx.
I remember one day driving along and seeing those old-time temperature/time boards outside a bank
at 1:02pm it was 102 degrees
so the colon just kept blinking in and out
I muttered "can't wait for 2:12 pm... water will be boiling" mercutio: 102f is 39c yes
taht seems hot RandalSchwartz: it was
every year, the local tv station actually fries eggs on the sidewalk
and I recall one year it was so hot that the FAA charts don't go high enough, and all the planes were grounded for a few hours
I think that's at 105 mercutio: do people get up early
and go to bed lat BryceBot: That's what she said!! mercutio: and just sleep in the middle of the day? RandalSchwartz: No... everything is indoors
massive amounts of A/C
people play golf at night though
most of the courses are lit
it's down to a nice 80 by then :) ***: forgotten has joined #arpnetworks RandalSchwartz: geez. dealing with a vendor who does not accept tls, only sslv2 and v3
apparently, they didn't get the memo. brycec: lololol

:D up_the_irons: and sorry for the slowness on tickets today, there was a fire by my house and we had to prepare to evacuate (fortunately, fire crews contained it, but cops were telling us to get prepared) forgotten: oh damn!!!
glad ur house didn't get burned up! brycec: Nature needs its own Halon system up_the_irons: yup same here! :D
brb mercutio: up_the_irons: wow RandalSchwartz: the new mayor of culver city is celebrating at the bar I'm at! mercutio: it sounuds like it's a small city
on wikipedia
so does that mean you get to actually talk to the mayor? RandalSchwartz: Not sure... they pointed the mayor out, but it was past a crowd, so I don't know who. mercutio: if you approached the crowd it may become more obvious RandalSchwartz: probably ***: forgotten has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 246 seconds) mercutio: new mayor? it seems the mayor has been constant?
http://www.culvercityobserver.com/story/2014/05/01/news/meghan-sahli-wells-sworn-in-as-culver-citys-mayor/3788.html
it looks like the mayor is that person RandalSchwartz: no that's last year JC_Denton: poor Baltimore
glad i made the CA jump mercutio: it says 1st term 4/23/12 to 4/25/16 RandalSchwartz: oh.... so maybe this is just a party
in that case, it's that woman that I just saw getting a picture with people here mercutio: i dunno who the mayor is here RandalSchwartz: so maybe this is a 4th year celebration party mercutio: oh it's the guy that got in the news having some affair
with 34% voter turnout
people don't seemt o care who the mayor is here
yeah maybe they celebrate every year ***: dj_goku_ has quit IRC (Remote host closed the connection)
