I had to bump CentOS up to 4 GB before I could get the OOM killer to quit killing yum +1 for ninite graphs down? appears that way not loading for me k same here. emailed support. Guessing it ran out of memory again, same as last time it "crashed" this way (sits and spins forever) brycec: how is your ARP Metal box coming along ? Great, I'd say. No issues, runs fast, etc my main concern with the Metal series is no redunand storage out of the box s/redunand/redundant my main concern with the Metal series is no redundant storage out of the box which make a vps way more reliable yeah, a reasonable concern, but that's only for 2 of the "tiers" https://www.arpnetworks.com/dedicated $129 and $149 options are single-drive (and fwiw, I sent up_the_irons an email this morning asking about upgradeabilty) the 2 hard drive options $169 and $189 still no Hardware RAID (Cheaper, more flexible, just as fast, not tied to a specific controller, etc) I know Linux works well with software RAID, but I dont think Windows and VMware support it heh, I'm *nix-only so my experience is mdadm, softraid(), ZFS, etc And in those instances, it's great. I don't have a clue how to setup software raid in windows... (or if it's even possible) (I wouldn't be surprised if it weren't) (I think OSX can do soft-raid for non-boot disks.) I think you can make a RAID volume, just cant boot off it in Windows mnathani_: run windows as a vm on linux? :) esxi doesn't have raid support it's kind of lame so you need something that does external raid but some people run that something else as a freebsd/opensolaris/linux host with zfs and export the data store for virtual machines from the virtual machine that vaguely sounds like a recipe for disaster using esxi? lots of people do it i'm not sure how the base vm's storage is allocated. like i'd want to do vt-d and pass through the sata controller nah, using a vm to do the storage for other vms. It should be fine, so long as you don't create any circular dependancies of that storage VM on other VMs that have their storage on it (like LDAP auth or something) yeah well i'd ratehr a second server myself :/ damnit now i'm curious what esxi's openbsd performance is like someone in the zol channel was tellign me about this iscsi thing they were doing that made it easy to change what a computer booted but even just reimaging quickly would be nice :) OpenBSD on ESXi is quite reasonable. Can't say as I've done a ton of performance testing, but it seems to respond as fast as bare metal would. brycec: oh i got lousy performance last time i tried it.. oh openbsd doesn't support kvm virtio drivers does it? oops esxi doesn't. Yep, it does I'm using vmxnet3 and virtio for disk i was thinking there may be virtio on esxi now erk i meant on esxi "SCSI Controller Type: Paravirtual" close enough :p oh interesting (And as I said, vmxnet3 for network) oh right cool i should try it i was struggling to get more than 3 gigabit/sec from guest-to-host with kvm and even just gigabit was a struggle err to host i mean host node to another host it was using heaps of cpu just doing gigabit heh my 10gbe cards came though Well I can't promise or guarantee anything :p Only that it works well enough for my uses. yeah i'm just curious about the openbsd network bottlenecks. i want to try porting the freebsd 10gbe driver to openbsd. Supposedly vmxnet3 is supposed to be the bee's knees, or at least the best vmware can come up with. Identifies as a 10GbE link yeh i think part of the issue is openbsd not really supporting many offload features in general. like on any drivers mnathani_: brycec : you can always add a 2nd drive to the first two plans for $20 up_the_irons: good to know ty up_the_irons (but can I add a 3rd? a 4th?) Dual E5-2630? Shiny... (especially considering the blade size) up_the_irons: btw, don't forget the comma (thumb) \m/, dual e5-2630 is overkill for most people you need heavily threading to really benefit (he mentioned he has a couple of systems build with those, a mere $499) *built on "light" load it's no better than an e3 yeah if you haev high load it would be nice :) even dual quad core+ht is hard to use i'm pretty sure e5-2630 is hex core there's also numa complications... memory and pci-e devices are owned by the cpu so it's not straight twice as fast as single cpu Anyone know of a service that can host a contact form on their site, where I can include it on my site and when someone fills it out their hosted site can send me an email ? a quick search found: http://blog.templatemonster.com/2010/07/08/free-contact-form-services/ but not sure which ones are hosted and send me emails directly you could just use something like formmail? it's not hosted though looks like googling such may help you find a hosted service though There are many results was hoping for someone to refer me to a service they might have tried ahh ok someone still might :) Doesn't Google Docs' Forms do that? mnathani_: ^ I've used it in similar ways, and I know I've been the end-user of it too. With the added bonus that it gets stored right in a spreadsheet. http://www.google.com/forms/about/ It certainly will serve as a contact form. Only a question of how "embeddable" it is. I tried an embedded google form it works great in that it puts the result in a spreadsheet but $client would prefer an email for each form submission (Oh good, they do allow embedding) 2 ways I know: iframe, and another method where you copy and paste the sourcecode into your page mnathani_: You should be able to setup notifications on the spreadsheet to email on any change. s/should be able/can/ mnathani_: You can to setup notifications on the spreadsheet to email on any change. (meh, close enough. English hard is.) brycec: you can do 3 and 4 but requires a 1U chassis, so we'd have to migrate you if you wanted that brycec: the E5's are 1Us, not blades Ah, good to know. Thanks for the clarity, up_the_irons :D brycec: ah, i never saw it with the comma (thumb) before ;) np! lol I enabled spreadsheet notification, but it doesnt seem to notify consistently, and even when it does, it links to the spreadsheet rather than present the contact form submission contents itself hm, bummer. mnathani_: That just leaves writing some Google Script :D (well I'm sure someone else already has written that exact function) eg under Forms' "Add-ons" menu, there is one named "Form Notifications" (And the published source, because I can't link to the Add-on itself https://github.com/googlesamples/apps-script-form-notifications-addon( checking out the addon hadn't seen that before thanks brycec np, gl can dd-wrt / tomato and the like do OSPF and other routing? @google ddwrt ospf Searching for 'dd wrt ospf' instead. 2,070 total results returned for 'dd wrt ospf', here's 3 Quagga - DD-WRT Wiki (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Quagga) [edit] OSPF.
