they blocked last two forbsome reason but finally let it go through

i wonder if my paypal mc will charge currency conv if i use that to pay arp mike-burns: Maybe you could use BTC? grody: arp accepts bitcoins?
i has 3.something

grody: paypal conversion fees are higher than my bank m0unds: my bank doesn't charge fees for currency conversion til a certain $ amt
like $500 or $1000 or something mercutio: oh interesting
i have flat 2.5% charge m0unds: yeah, my old bank was about that mercutio: i must remember to do something about that
i'm sure there'll be a way to get lower %

And in this day and age, it could be cyberattacks, and it could be physical. mercutio: kind of scary isn't it. brycec: It is, and it's truly saddening + maddening. mercutio: i keep expecting my phone number to be cyberattacked when i have it listed on whois
for some reason it doesn't seem to be a problem.
but i'd much rather have "open contact details"
and yet a part of me is kind of paranoid.
the problem isn't that i have anything to hide or anything.
it's just that there's kind of non-descriminate cyberstalking etc these days.
i think the cheap voip phone calls thing made more telemarketers canvas normal phone numbers.
but it doesn't seem targeted yet.

well my friend has kids
and the school starts at like 11 years old?
and they require tablets etc.
it's a "byod" policy.

break a leg phlux: but I can play piano, banjo, bass, and violin
I just don't during my solo shows

it's like amazingly rejuvinating not just drunk-feeling up_the_irons: phlux: you play violin? I started learning it... fucking hard. Guitar was easy. ;) phlux: I'll be out there a solid 5 hours before I go on, so I'll be diving in the alcohol a little bit before I take on the stage

or is just a funny term for it? m0unds: just a silly word for it mercutio: ok phlux: up_the_irons: it's difficult getting used to fretless instruments after playing guitar
guitar makes everything easy because the frets are predetermined m0unds: yeah, going from having frets or at least fret markers (on fretless electric for instance) to having nothing is pretty tough up_the_irons: phlux: yeah it's hard for me to get used to phlux: I find a certain freedom in a fretless instrument, though up_the_irons: i'm always second guessing myself phlux: I can find odd notes that I'd never hit with my guitar
I use my slide often when I'm playing with others up_the_irons: "was that slightly sharp/flat?" phlux: haha
I'm a freaking perfectionist when it comes to that stuff
I will not settle for "close enough" up_the_irons: how do you eventually get it perfect every time?
do you feel it, or hear it, or both? mercutio: maybe being off slightly adds character. up_the_irons: mercutio: no, it just sounds like crap

I get so frustrated when I'm not perfect mercutio: the closest i've experienced is bends on guitar. phlux: get yourself a slide
it essentially makes you fretless mercutio: hmm, pianos often sound badly tuned to me phlux: it happens mercutio: probably because it's harder to tune them. phlux: it is hard to tune
i've always hired someone mercutio: i has a keyboard.
it sounds terrible.
but it has midi, and they keys that do light/firm pushes.

so i assume it's probably possible to improve the sound
but expensive pianos do actually sound pretty awesome
even if you can hardly play like me

slightly shorter than a full scale mercutio: i have casio ctk-900

isn't 83 how many keys pc xt has?
seems it is :) ***: jpalmer has quit IRC (Quit: WeeChat 0.4.2) phlux: mercutio: yep, I do. $250/hr right now

ahh phlux: maybe one day I'll be famous and I can charge $10k/hr like Pearl Jam :P mercutio: is that how much they charge?
how much does each person make?
from what i've heard starving artist tends to be where it's at for most musicians
and that lots of lower musicians make more money teaching people to play than playing themselves. phlux: that's true
I make a lot more money being in the USCG than I do performing :P
I'd love to quit the CG though
Focus on the music mercutio: so it's more about because you want to than to make money phlux: but I have a wife and child to support
yeah right now it is
but if I focused on it primarily, I'd need to support my family somehow mercutio: by teaching :/
you could lose your passion i supupose ***: Seju has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 255 seconds) phlux: nah I could definitely teach

While my friends were learning how to play football, I was learning music
Now, I still watch football, believe me
but at 26/27, are my friends still playing competitive football? nope
am I still making music? bet your ass! brycec: phlux: Best of luck, break a leg!
Violin was the first (okay, only really) string instrument I learned. It's kindof ruined me on fretted instruments, "chords" just don't come naturally to me. However perfect pitch does.
:D
But I will tell you that there is nothing "close enough" when it comes to a note - the closer you are without being spot on, the more wrong it sounds and stands-out. ***: SpeedBus has quit IRC (Quit: SpeedBus@CrownCloud.net)
