brycec: :) up_the_irons: that last tweet you retweeted somehow looks dodgy: https://mobile.twitter.com/Wg5u7JosCRP__/status/571122042852007936?p=v ... same content as a tweet from a totally different person from a month ago and also that twitter account looks weird... TWITTER: Finally got everything I host and my home on #IPv6 dualstack, reverse delegated, etc, Thanks to @arpnetworks for provid (Fri Feb 27 01:38:00 +0000 2015, retweeted 2 times) ant: hmm interesting up_the_irons: did you receive it? I didn't get an autoreply from the support mailbox :( (Sent from my usual address/account that's always worked in the past.) brycec: no i don't see it up_the_irons: Regrettably there's nothing I can do to troubleshoot - sent from gmail so I have no further visibility of it once sent. But it's an address that's worked in the past, so... wtf. :( Yep, that one worked. (And it was definitely a response to the "test" one) up_the_irons: Maybe you have something against attachments, even small 6kb images? (Don't you just hate the idea that your support mailbox might be silently losing emails and damaging your reputation? I know I did when I ran a support desk... Luckily I could check the spam folder at least, and did so a few times a week.) i try not to worry about it too much (for the email I sent 8+ hours ago) greylisting? I don't think Google does but you never know More likely the greylisting was on ARP's side or up_the_irons would have received my message when I asked him about it. And due to the nature of huge smtp networks like Google's it's very difficult to diagnose (or discover) i think arp has greylisting on their mail. Wouldn't surprise me. But I can only point at the "all my mail to ARP in the past has Just Worked, instantaneously." well greyylisting takes what 20 mintues? Depends on configuration actually i think retries are quicker than that But I mean *instantaneous* auto-reply from the support mailbox oh? anyway you wer ehaving problems quite a while back, and are still having problems? Sent: Date: Tue, 17 Feb 2015 22:12:58 -0800, autoreply 33 seconds later Wed, 18 Feb 2015 06:13:31 +0000 mercutio: different account oh hmm (never did figure out that issue, so I've just been using my own email which has always worked with ARP) (I do now have access to the Exchange server, so I could further troubleshoot that issue if I had the time and wanted to waste ARP's time) i think it always retuurns the support mail the auto-respond thing i mean so if your mail server says it's been sent and you don't get response it's dropped. Right, exactly, and that's the reason for it. Last night I sent an email and didn't get the reply for 8 hours - so I'd assumed it had been dropped, but it hadn't. oh so it's greylisting badly? your mail server should show Google doesn't give me access to that information ;) oh i've been having weird issues with sending mails to google recently i often bounce email to gmail. and sometimes it doesn't seem to turn up quickly, so i bounce it again and it's fine and i only ever see one email mutt has this annoying thing that if you have attachments etc and you forward a mail it doesn't incluude them but if you bounce messages you have got a higher chance of it not getting through i'm enjoying snow, even if it's a bit late whoops, wrong channel stupid mosh Doesn't matter, still jealous of your snow. not sure if we even broke 30F today damn i can't relate at all @weather akl Auckland International, New Zealand: Clear 70°F (21°C), Humidity: 68%, Wind: From the SSW at 5 MPH -- For more details including the forecast and almanac, see http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=-37.00805664,174.79167175 or re-request this with: @weather -v akl well a bit over that @weather AEG There is 1 weather alert in effect for your area!
